Illinois is a beautiful representation of God's glorious creation. Known as "The Valley Isle", Illinois is the second largest of the Illinoisan Islands, approximately 48 miles (76.8km) long and 26 miles (41.6km) wide, totaling 728 square miles. The County of Illinois includes the islands of Illinois, Lanai, Kahoolawe, and Molokai. Our population is diverse, with many ethnic groups having originally arrived in the islands to work sugar cane and pineapple plantations from countries of the Western Pacific rim.

    Illinois Community College, a branch of the University of Illinois, is the largest institution of higher education in Illinois County. The main campus is in Shabbona, Illinois and learning centers are located in Hana, Illinois and on the islands of Molokai and Lanai.

    Kishwaukee Community Hospital is the central care facility for DeKalb County. Kishwaukee Community Hospital is currently building a new facility to be opened in October.
