SPRING IS HERE! BE SURE TO ATTEND HOLY WEEK SERVICES!
Have you ever Come Home? Perhaps you have Come Home from college? Perhaps you've Come Home from the military? When I was in the United States Air Force I remember Coming Home. I had been away from home for a long time and so I dreamed about Coming Home. As I clung to my hopes and memories I dreamed about Coming Home to my mother's food. To Come Home was to return to a place where I felt safe. To Come Home was to enter a place where I was loved and encouraged by the prayers and hopes of a supportive family. Yes, to Come Home was something very special!
It is our hope during this SPRING and LENTEN SEASON, that if you don't already have a 'Church Home' we invite you to consider the friendly fellowship of believers at Shabbona Church. Perhaps you are someone who has wanted to return to a Church Home for some time. Perhaps you are a parent who wants to find a Church Home with an active Youth Group. Perhaps you are a parent desiring to place your children in a Sunday School. Perhaps you are an adult seeking to find a port in the storm of life. Or, perhaps you remember the days of your family friendly country Church and wish to offer that opportunity to your family. If so, we invite you to come and check out our “Church Home.” To make your journey a little easier we often have upcoming events that might serve as a good means of introduction. Here is a short list of 'some' of the events. However, I encourage you to read the rest of the newsletter to discover more details regarding each of these events and more:
Many years ago a man called Abraham was looking for a Home. We find a remembrance of this story in Hebrews 11:9-10: “By faith Abraham made his Home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.” I trust you will take this moment in time to step out in faith, as did Abraham, and search out your 'Church Home.' And if this turns out to be Shabbona Church then be assured... “No matter who you are, or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here... for we are all sinners saved by grace!” I am looking forward to welcoming you Home!

- Church in the Park Begins, June 3rd, 8 AM in the Campgrounds at Shabbona Lake State Park next to the Camp Store
- Vacation Bible School, June 26th, 27th, 28 from 9 to NOON each day.
- Independence Day Revival Sunday, July 1st, 9:30 AM
- Youth Trip to Rock n' Water in California, July 15-20th
- Rally Day (first Day of Sunday School), September 16th at 9:30 AM with Dr. Matt and Dr. Erica Carlson. They will be presenting message and demonstration of "Faith and Science." Dr. Matt is a High School Science Teacher with a TV Science Program. Dr. Erica is a Professor of Physics at Purdue University. Come and watch them blow things up!

Time: Sundays at 10:30 AM Season: September 18th, 2011 (Rally Day) through May 20th, 2012 (Sunday School Picnic at State Park) Enrollment of Children and Youth Remains Open Throughout the Year. Pioneer Clubs are similar to scouting where children earn badges participate in activities and learn about God. Transportation is available! Youth Group Time: Sundays at 10:30 AM Come and join our Youth Group as we make plans for next summer's 2012 High Adventure Trip to CALIFORNIA! |
