The Roman Road
Shabbona United Church of Christ is An Evangelical Church Seeking to be Grounded in the Word of God, moving prayerfully forward to fulfill our mission to love the Lord with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength (Mark 12:30); and make disciples of all nations, teaching them to observe all that Jesus commanded (Matthew 28:19-20). We believe each person is responsible to respond to the work of Christ on the cross individually. The following verses from the book of Romans have often been used to guide seekers towards their own personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Collectively these verse are called the Roman Road of Salvation. The above picture is a picture of the famous Apian Way which was a famous Roman Road that the Apostle Paul would have traveled:
- Romans 3:23
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God!
- Romans 6:23a
For the wages of sin is death!
- Romans 6:23b
But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord!
- Romans 5:8
But God demonstrated His Own love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us!
- Romans 10:13
Whoever will call upon the name of the Lord, will be saved!
- Romans 10:9,10
If you confess with your mouth Jesus Christ as Lord, and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses resulting in salvation!
A Movie to Make You Think! The Good Samaritan ...
Many people claim to be Christians. Imagine a world in which it would be against the law to be a Christian. Imagine once again that you claimed to be a Christian and then was arrested for your faith, would there be enough evidence to convict you of being a Christian in a court of law? This is a humbling thought and this movie by P. F. Thompson tells the story of the Good Samaritan whose service revealed his TRUE relationship to God.
